September salmon on the fly!

Well the salmon fishing on the fly has been nothing short of spectacular! 25 to 75 fish days have been the norm for 1-2 anglers :)
We have landed some nice early coho salmon on the fly this week, so it's looking like it should be a great season for them as well.
Although we haven't hooked one yet, we have seen quite a few chum salmon starting to roll around too, so it shouldn't be long before
we are battling those brutes on the fly!! All of my guests can't say enough good things about the new rods on board this season.
The LOOP Cross S1 series has been our go to rod for salmon, and on a guide boat you see all kinds of rod mishaps.... These ones are
still going strong!! Can't believe the abuse they can take, just incredible. October is just around the corner, so if you want to book a
trip for coho, and chum salmon on the fly, act fast as we only have a few dates left.

Fresh pink salmon and huge sturgeon

We had a great week so far catching fresh pink salmon on flies, jigs, spinners, and spoons. More and more fresh fish are arriving daily. The big sturgeon are really keying on fresh salmon parts and we are catching some great fish!! Check out some pics of our last group, they landed 28 fish between 4' and
7 1/2 feet long in three days!!

Back from a week of fly fishing the Columbia river BC

We are back from a terrific week on the Columbia river, in the west Kootenays of BC. The weather was very sporadic, with everything from snow, to blazing sun! The bug hatches were much the same, sporadic! It didn't seem to matter though, as we landed great fish day in, and day out on Mayflies, Stoneflies, Ants, and a variety of streamers. We saw bear, deer, mountain goats, wild turkeys, and a beaver. Everyone had a great time, and can't wait to return next year.

It's Cutthroat season!

All winter we wait for it start to warm up a bit and for the salmon fry to emerge from the gravel and begin their migration out to sea. When this happens it triggers a feeding frenzy by diving ducks, gulls, herons, and most importantly Cutthroat trout!! Next to steelhead, Cutthroat trout are my favorite thing to fish and guide for, probably because of the variety of places, and methods we fly fish for them. It was a great day today, both weather and company wise, so enjoy some pics.

The Outback Fishers!!!

Had a great day on the water with Des from Australia and his 2 sons Kyle and Sage, yup named Sage after the rod company just like my son! These kids were a couple keeners, and after missing a few bites in the beginning, they were all over those sturgeon! They managed to land 26 fish in under 4 hours, with 4 double headers (2 fish on at a time)They helped put some tags in new fish for the tagging program with the Fraser River Sturgeon Conservation Society. It was big smiles, and sore arms for the boys from ''down under'' before they had to jump on a plane back home. Nice work guy's :)
